In a coffee shop this morning, while enjoying a slice of bread pudding bathed in vanilla sauce (oops, i forgot this isn't a food post); I overheard (okay, fine.. I was eavesdropping) four people talking about a piece of property. There was the lady property owner, her son (I assumed), the lady buyer and the buyer's male lawyer with his newest Ipad neatly laid on the table. They were discussing about the property but it seems the property they were talking about has a tenant with an existing contract so basically they cannot just evade them out of the property. The owner was asking the buyer to give her more time to spare to the tenant but the buyer was so persistent that they wanted the property the soonest.
Lady Property Owner: "Baka naman po mabigyan nyo pa kami ng 30 days maximum para mapaalis yung tenant, mabait naman po sila at mukhang madadaan sa pakiusap." (Probably, you could still give us 30 days maximum to ask the tenant to leave, they're nice and from the looks of it I could ask them politely)
Male Lawyer: "Kung ayaw nila umalis, ihabla na lang" (If they don't want to leave, just sue them)
Lady Property Owner: "Madali po sa inyo maghabla nang tao kasi abogado kayo, pero samin pong mga simpleng tao, masarap matulog sa gabi na alam mong wala kang inaapakan na ibang tao." (It's easy for you to sue people because you're a lawyer but for us simple individuals, it is so good to sleep at night knowing that you haven't stepped on someone's toes)
And then there was silence....
I guess that was the point the lawyer knew he lost his case.
I decided to start this blog not because I was a perennial eavesdropper but because I have UNintentionally (yup, without being nosy) heard from random conversations the funniest and most sensible thoughts about life. All you have to do is hear the voices around you, pick up what's important and discard what's immaterial. I am blogging not to discredit or put someone down but to learn from regular people what life is all about.
